Abstract: 

The phrase “family farmers” is borrowed from the image of a “family doctor”, with the idea that farmers make organic products for some families committing to buy products with fixed quantities and prices. It is not merely an economic problem, but also involves a philosophy of living in a direct relationship between producers and consumers, between People and Nature. On the farmers’ side, not producing excessively, and knowing who they are producing for. On the consumer’s side, better understand the difficulties that farmers are facing and are willing to share risks. The Family Farmers is a small model, being evaluated in developed countries as a solution for farmers’ economic problems, helping farmers to stay in the fields and contribute to rural preservation, and reduce environmental pollution from industrialized agriculture.

About the presenter: 

Luong Duy Quang is a doctoral student majoring in Management Science in University of Lille, France. His main research area includes bank’s risk and corporate governance, institution for banking system in developing countries, maco-economic policies and bank stability. Currently, he is working for Center for Development Study, Ho Chi Minh City University, Viet Nam.
