Abstract:

In this seminar, Dr. Pham Khanh Nam will summarize the trends of behavioral Economics research in solving environmental problems and climate change in particular and discuss potential research topics for behavioral climate change economics. Presentation also includes a glance about Richard H. Thaler “for his contributions to behavioral economics” (Nobel 2017) and William D. Nordhaus “for integrating climate change into long-run macroeconomic analysis” (Nobel 2018 with Paul M. Romer).

About the presenter:

Dr. Nam is the Deputy-Dean of the School of Economics, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH). He awarded the PhD in economics at University of Gothenburg, Sweden in 2011. His research interests widely spans from environmental valuation to experimental economics, and social preferences. Nam has published a number of studies in peer reviewed journals such as Oxford Economic Papers, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Economic Psychology, Journal of Development Studies and Land Use Policy. In addition, Nam also works as the Director of The Economy and Environment Partnership for Southeast Asia (EEPSEA) and Environment for Development (EfD) in Vietnam.

Small Talks Big Ideas is a series of academic activities welcoming researchers, students and anyone who are interested in economics and related disciplinary to share an innovative idea or research proposal, to discuss an academic question or a policy-relevant issue, a working paper with preliminary results or a published paper. The STBI seminar is regularly held on Thursday, from 11:00 to 12:00 at H.001, UEH School of Economics (1A Hoang Dieu, Phu Nhuan District, HCMC)
